STUDENT SERVICES COORDINATOR
PART TIME - 20 HOURS PER WEEK
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Insures that individuals (parents, students and educators) know what services and information is available
2. Designs and conducts training for students with disabilities and parents about the process and their rights
3. Designs and conducts training information sessions for students in self-advocacy/self esteem
4. Designs and conducts training information sessions for parents
5. Provides mentoring for students
6. Assists students and parents to explore various options
7. Advocates for system change
8. Develops and/or works with existing parent networks
9. Assists parents/students to advocate for needed services and equipment
10. Develops rapport with schools
11. Assists with transition process
12. Provides independent living skills training to students
13. Performs other duties as requested
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of skills, experience and education
2. Knowledge of resources and services available in the community.
3. Ability to work independently, under pressure and with a wide variety of people
4. Ability to motivate people
5. Experience with outreach activities
6. Ability to network
7. Strong training experience
8. Personal experience with a disability is an asset.
